Ilya YashinAs it became known, the authorities were forced to return the opposition member Ilya Yashin his money, which has been confiscated from him five years ago. By an interesting coincidence, the money was returned only after Yashin has been elected as a municipal deputy. Back in 2012, more than $ 12,000 were confiscated from him during the police search of his rented apartment.  The investigation was connected to the “Bolotnaya Square” case. The police representatives stated that Yashin obtained the said money illegally from the wanted Georgian politician Givi Targamadze, with the alleged intent to use it to finance the opposition riots! Yashin claimed that the money was his personal property, containing all his savings.

However, during the next five years, the investigation was unable to prove the involvement of Ilya Yashin neither in the mass riots nor in their organization. Even the fact that Givi Targamadze knew Yashin, or sent him money has never been proven. It is unclear what were the investigators trying to prove, by holding the money as evidence for five years. The fact that they returned money clearly marks that the allegations were unfounded. The truth is that Ilya Yashin's involvement in the opposition movement became a convincing and sufficient reason to start an investigation, conduct a search, confiscate his personal money and hold them up for as long as they wanted.

What kind of law supremacy, constitutional rights, and democracy can we even talk about here? And nobody is shielded from this lawlessness! Someone may, according to their imaginary reasons, come to you anyday, take away your money just because you are very zealous about defending your civil rights.

On September 10, 2017, a voting day was held in Russia. The elections were held in 82 federal subjects. There were 5,810 electoral campaigns at various levels, and 242 referendums were held. According to the “Election violations map", by the time of writing this note, there have already been more than 1,500 reports of violations committed during the September 10 elections.

It is noteworthy, that on the eve of a voting day, Novaya Gazeta has published the results of its own investigation of the Deputy elections in St. Petersburg in 2016. The results of this study were not only published by the press in text form, but they also contained photo evidence of massive falsifications – “carousel voting”. Evidence was obtained through repeated viewing of video recordings from the cameras installed at the polling stations where the votings were conducted. Video recordings examination took almost a year! Novaya Gazeta even managed to identify the names of people involved in the so-called "carousels." Hundreds of individuals who participated in this illegal activity were identified and photographed.

During Putin's rule, especially after the annexation of the Crimea, the media's effort in advertising the Kremlin's decisions has changed to promoting a "special" understanding of ethics, morality, and religion intended for the Russians. Three pillars of the Russian government’s rhetoric are – criticism of the "spiritless" West, to stir up distrust towards Western values; fighting the "fifth column", which is constantly looking for a way to harm Russia; restrictions on any discontent among citizens to ensure the preservation of the "national idea”, and the protection of the legitimacy of the Crimean occupation.

The Kremlin's project of appealing to people’s morality has several goals. Firstly, it affects the way citizens think. Secondly, designing legal system punishing anyone who questions the morality of the authorities, thus limiting citizens’ actions. Those who disagree or even resist in some way, face prison, which in fact became an instrument for solving all problems. This article analyzes Kremlin's steps in three aspects of consolidation of traditionalism.

The Civil Society Development Foundation (FoRGO) published a thematic report on the upcoming regional elections. One of the main topics in this report is political competition. The authors emphasize, that the referendum elections (without an alternative) have always existed in the Russian Federation, but they are also common abroad.

However, FoRGO’s study contains a very interesting opinion about the specifics of today's elections in Russia, when it is necessary to win big and decisively. This idea of winning the elections is slightly different from that in Western countries. The victory in Russian elections must be undeniable, it must be won already in the first round. It is also better to make the final result coincide with the pre-election ratings, published on a monthly basis as if they were preparing the electorate for the result.

Conflicts at the stage of registration of candidates, during the campaign, voting process and during the summarizing of the election results, as well as an uncertain advantage over the competitor, an uncertain passage to the second round, may weaken the authority of the winner, or even doubt his political power.

Hooray! At last, comrades! The Kalashnikov concern, which has the majority of its shares controlled by the state corporation Rostek, presented its newest development. This time, the model should attract the interest of Russian citizens, because it has been developed specifically for them. "Kalashnikov" created a special police vehicle called “Shield” designed to suppress street riots, to which, sometimes, the opposition activities are equated.

A special pride for any Russian, apparently, should be a statement that the "Shield" (photos of which are below) beats any existing foreign counterpart. Hooray! No "opposition scum" can disturb Putin's elections now! They will be pushed against the wall by an armored KAMAZ with a steel bumper and a powerful water cannon. The vehicle’s designers also promise to please us with other innovative engineering solutions. This will surely glorify Russian democratic system. Otherwise, why would the State arm itself against its own population?

There is a saying “Why do you see the speck in your brother's eye but fail to notice the beam in your own eye?”. What if we put a warhead instead of the beam, or three of them? Russian politicians love to criticize their “foreign partners”, while their subordinate media even turn this to a point of an absurd. Some even say that the Queen of England is an extraterrestrial Reptilian humanoid. In the meantime, they prefer not to notice many of the important things happening in Russia. As it happened with this story.

Once again, the Army's consciousness, organization, and security explicitly showed itself. On August 10, 2017, in Chita, two not very conscious citizens on an old Gazel truck, dragged three heavy military blanks to a scrap metal merchant, hoping to earn some extra bucks. Apparently, they did not realize that those were not just blanks, but the warheads of the Soviet S-200 “Angara” anti-aircraft missile system.  (Wikipedia) Imagine three powerful warheads left alone! But it has become clear only after the tragedy. Unaware of the danger, the workers began to dismantle the warhead for scrap, which caused a powerful explosion. The remains of the scrap metal yard scattered the surrounding area. Two people got killed and one wounded.

There is a Russian city Rostov-on-Don. And there is a district there, the locals call "Govnyarka”. It is primarily built-up with private wooden houses. Or it is better to say, it was built-up! The whole district was burned down in broad daylight, along with its residents, houses, pets, household buildings and other property. Like what the Nazis did in 1941...

These houses surely were a big obstacle for the Construction bosses. After the local residents refused the proposed resettlement conditions, the houses caught fire. Yes, they haven’t burned just one house, but a whole district. Imagine this – about 120 houses were burned down!

Such a disaster could have been avoided, if the law enforcement and the authorities at least somehow reacted to the appeals of citizens. They warned that they were forced to sell their houses dirt-cheap. Just a week before the incident, black SUVs drove around the area, with tough fellows held “preventive talks” with the locals, forcing them to sell their land two or three times cheaper than its real cost. Those who refused were threatened with arson, and some fires indeed started. And here’s the result.
